Action Model 6 Meltdown
Meltdown a disastrous collapse or breakdown, this is what the next video is all about.
Meltdown a disastrous collapse or breakdown, this is what the next video is all about.
With the start of a new year we have started with a new burst of energy and focus for the coming 12 months. We have also developed a new formula for success that will see our clients engaging with to ensure a solid strategic plan to give them the unfair advantage in the market space.
The formula focuses on and unpacks three critical areas of business. This used together with our Business Strategy planner that each client will get in January will no doubt become the focus of all future discussions and strategy into the future.
The formula 2018 Success = RI2 gives us the three critical areas of focus:
Each of these is broken down into a further three points to establish our mission and plan.
We have derived this formula through input from different sources, talks and books. We believe that the future is going to become more automated and processed driven through AI and AR. This leaves us to focus on the one pillar of business that can never be replaced by computers: Relationships. This is going to separate the successes from the failures in the future: those who can keep real relationships with their customers, staff and suppliers by offering one-on-one consultations and taking time to hear, no actually listen and understand people will gain loyalty and trust. This amounts to long-term relationships and business longevity.
Added to this is the requirement for information flowing into a business. The new book Outside Insights by Meltwater’s Jorn Lyseggen has been of huge inspiration in this area. He unpacks the difference between having information and being able to use this information to drive business expansion and market domination. A book worth getting and reading, twice.
The final focus area of the formula is Innovation. Innovation is and will continue to be a survivalist essential tool in business today. We love to play a little ahead of the curve and learn and lead our clients. Through the Cape Chamber’s Innovation Initiative we will be taking big steps in mapping out the Innovation Ecosystem in the greater Cape Town areas over the next few months.
Welcome to the future. It is going to be a great ride. Please join us at one of the following upcoming events:
Innovation Information session – 24 January
Game Changers Business Workshop – 22 February
As we begin the journey into another year, we are prepping our team and tools to be ready and ahead of the game plan to bring you the necessary coaching and leadership you would expect from your business strategic coaching partner.
So what does 2018 look like? Your guess is as good as anyone else’s, but there are a few indicators that we are looking at to help understand the trends for the next 12 months. We will be keeping a close eye on these to watch for new developments in each area.
We will unpack some of these during this next week, but here is a short summary of some of them:
Health – We will see a huge leap forward on gene editing and anti-ageing moving into human trials. Also, polio and Diabetes type 1 will see new vaccines.
Space – If all goes well, we will see three countries get to the moon, asteroid exploration and two deep space missions launched to Mars and Mercury
Electric Cars – We will see the commercial rollout of new brands and mass production of electric cars
Fintech – Bitcoin and cryptocurrency will keep us entertained but watch out for AI as it drives investment management: good or bad, we will have to see
Environment – Icebergs, water, climate change and the debate will continue. The deep drilling through the earth’s crust will start once a safe location is chosen from three proposed sites
More on these in later posts.
We have also developed a new formula for success for 2018. This based on research and the above trends and developments. This formula we will be using to unpack our tools over the next quarter for both ourselves and our clients.
So here it is 2018 success = RI2
Welcome to the new year. We trust that it will be a success as we work together.
This video is about action. The word “action” means exerting pressure or force upon an object or one’s environment with the aim of getting the desired outcome.

This video speaks about fear. Fear is a feeling induced by perceived danger or threat that occurs in certain types of organisms, which causes a change in metabolic and organ functions and ultimately a change in behaviour, such as fleeing, hiding, or freezing from perceived traumatic events.
The different kind of fears that we have learnt and adopted are fear of height, the dark, snakes, spiders, etc. What are you afraid of?

Frustration is the feeling of being upset or annoyed as a result of being unable to change or achieve something. We all have levels of frustration in our lives; depending on external stimuli. The external stimuli may be as a result of health issues, eating habits, loud music or any other unwanted noise e.t.c. It is very interesting to monitor someone’s frustration and you can do an energy diary and a frustration diary. If you are someone who finds yourself constantly frustrated; instead of trying to address the frustration, you need to address the causes. To do this you will need to figure out the source of your frustration.
This video is about Confidence, Education and Experience.
Confidence -belief system, knowing with certainty that we can do something, a belief in self-ability. Education -learning from any school -formal school, informal, self-study or mentorship/apprenticeship. Experience -skill honed through practice over a significant period of time.
This course introduces you to the Action Model that defines the relationship between our Confidence, Resources, Fear and Frustration. Each plays a part in creating events that spark action to specific stimuli. The issues of action and non-action due to feeling paralyzed or meltdown are introduced.
Watch A Remote Control Range Rover Sport demonstrate how a driver could drive the vehicle from outside the car via their smartphone. The smartphone app includes control of steering, accelerator and brakes as well as changing from high and low range.
An experimental app lets you drive this Range Rover via your smartphone’s touchscreen, and live out your James Bond dreams.
Trust is such an important aspect of every part of our lives. We cannot reach our full potential without someone trusting in us and trusting others. However, trust is earned and proven time and again. Would you trust your baby boy to someone you didn’t really know well? Of course not! So why do we trust our business, our resources, our finances, the baby of our blood, sweat and tears, to staff, consultants and suppliers that we don’t know very well?
When you first started out, there were 3 people in your business – me, myself and I. You opened up and locked up, you made all the payments, and you didn’t have petty cash. But as your business has grown, you’ve involved more people in your dream. You’ve put processes in place to ensure the quality of the product or service being delivered, and to ensure the performance of your staff and suppliers. What processes have you put in place to protect your assets and resources?
The following are some things that you may have done, or should do:
– Insurance for computers, equipment, personal income protection and medical
– Log books for vehicle usage to prevent personal use
– Lock away and issue out keys for computer and electronic equipment, supplies, and the office
– Lock away petty cash and give the key to only one person
For all the resources (equipment, cash, access to bank accounts) there should be written authorization that the person is allowed to use the resource. Then if something happens, it is clear who had the keys last and who was responsible.
So often there is the sad story of when the trusted bookkeeper left and a new person started. The new person stole a large sum of money and covered it up in the books. Just because one person is trust-worthy doesn’t mean everyone is. The process of checks should be in place regardless of who does the job. It protects the employee (and the other staff) from undeserved suspicion or blame.
Another reason for checks and procedures is to make sure that the financial information that you are relying on to make decisions is accurate and complete. Some ideas include:
– Written authorization for all payments
– Sequential numbering of documents to easily see if anything is missing
– Supporting documentation that provides evidence of the transaction
– Reviewed bank reconciliations
If you are concerned that you may not be able to rely on your procedures, please contact us to conduct a review of what you are currently doing and provide you with recommendations and changes to help protect your future business.
