Entrepreneur Options for School Leavers

With our Matric results out in South Africa and all the mixed emotions that go with them all, we are left with the obvious question: What to do now?

If you are or know a school leaver then here are some options: Further education is always a great way to go. But remember the dropout rate and failure rate for higher education is above 50% and will often leave you with huge debt and emotional and social issues to deal with.

Getting a job and working is an awesome option, but jobs are scarce and your Matric does not really qualify you to do much other than entry level jobs. But a job is a job and experience will come. I know so many people who got a job, worked hard and have moved up to managerial positions and job security. So find a job, put in some effort and make it happen.

Then there is the gap year. A gap year without a plan is just a total waste of time and energy, not yours, but those who need to support you. If you want to take a gap year, do something with it. Learn a skill, job shadow, volunteer, travel, do things that will give you experience and mature your skills into something worthwhile.

The last option I have is to start a business. Last on the list, but should be considered first. South Africa is ripe for Entrepreneurship and ready for small business. But starting a small business on your own may be considered as imminent failure, unless you get help from a mentor and coach. Learning from others who have gone before you makes the path less hazardous and more productive.

If you are in Johannesburg and want to do a full gap year of Entrepreneurship then here is an option.

If you are in Cape Town and want to find out more about what it takes to start and run a business, then we have a specialised workshop for school leavers on Wednesday 11th Jan. Click HERE for more info.

Whatever your choices are for 2017, make sure you make then, stick to them and give it a good go. If you want to chat to our team for more advice, then go here. We are here to help you grow your business.

Spring into action with a marketing revamp

With winter coming to a close here in Cape Town, the weather is getting warmers and the gaps between the rain and storms a little longer. So is it now time to do some changes and spring cleaning?

One area we see a lot of people needing in their business is a revamp of their marketing. Too many companies we see do the same old same old marketing and sales cycles over and over again. Then as insanity defines, we expect different results and an ever increase in the bottom line.

We have revamped our marketing offerings ready for your new business approach to accessing the market ahead of the end of the year season. We now have two-valued and fun filled workshops: Blue Water Marketing strategies and Narrative Marketing that we have on the schedule for the next few months.

If you are ready to relook, revamp and relearn what your marketing is all about then we are ready for you. Please go HERE to check out for dates and details and get your place booked.

Remember: if you change nothing, nothing will change.

See you at the next workshop.

Women are just much better

Women are different to men, trying to be equal is just not possible. Women have a different way of thinking, networking and collecting data. In many ways women are able to utilize their natural abilities to out-perform men at business.

We take a short journey in this video as we unpack some of the advantages Women have as entrepreneurs and business owners.

Who Am I?

The age old question of who we are, where we came from and where we are going has been on the thoughts of many since the beginning of time. We aim to explore this a little during the month of “People”.

Who am I? in this video we ask the questions about the questions. These have, as academics do, confused and clouded the issue somewhat but I am keen to look at ourselves through the eyes of the entrepreneur and business owner.

What makes an entrepreneur? Is there a formula or profile that we need to discover and follow in order to be the best fit to start and run a business? I fear that all our discovering may leave us as confused as when we first begin, but I am confident that the journey will be worth the effort and we will discover a lot about ourselves and the way to lead and manage a business.

The journey will look at the composition of mankind. Our history and makeup will define our functions and purpose. We will then proceed to uncover the aspects of participation in life that reap rewards and define progress and success. But always looking at ways to manage the levels of health and stress as we go along.

Join us this month and we begin to peel back the layers and find the true self that may lie hidden beneath the cloak of societal illusions.

4 key ways to innovate in your business

Companies need to innovate. Innovate their processes, procedures, products and marketing. But how is this done, where can this happen.
We look at the 4 different categories of innovation that will give you a reference to work from in your business.

The four categories are:
Market Pull Innovation: A problem exists and is identified in a system or market. People get together to address this problem. This is solved either by using new technology or by reinventing the current processes or products. This results in a new solution that can be implemented and sold.
Technology Push Innovation: After much research and development a new technology breakthrough is achieved. This brings a new concept product offering to the market. The problem it solves is then identified to the market sectors and the product sold to address this new found problem.
Frugal Innovation: With a current system or process, the question is asked about improvement and how to do more with less. This results in cost saving, a positive environmental impact, and improved efficiency.
Marketing Innovation: The marketing for a product or service needs to reach a new breakthrough for either a new or existing product. The marketing is developed to address the market in a new and innovative manner resulting in deeper market penetration and improved sales.
What can your business do to be innovative in your current processes, procedures or new product ideas?
