Creating an Entrepreneurial Mindset for your Employees.

Creating an Entrepreneurial Mindset for your Employees

It is not every business that is able or willing to ask their employees to find faults with their work environment. But the Vineyard is encouraging all their employees to look for areas of frustration , anger and fear amongst their staff and guests and then do something about it. We together with Teen Entrepreneur have been busy running a series of workshops for the Vineyard staff this month on how to “Turn Pain into Gain” through an Entrepreneurial Mindset.

Session of up to 25 staff have work shopped areas of frustration in the hotel and then worked through these to a viable solution that can be presented back to management with a feasible solution. The response has been very positive with some great ideas already resented back to managers and in the process of implementation. Staff have also been empowered to take any issue forward together with a viable solution to management using the new defined processes and forms. A recognition process for staff for implemented solutions is also being looked at.

What a privilege it has been to work with such a forward looking and proactive company. We are looking for ways to roll this type of workshop into other hospitality businesses as well as into other sectors.  If you are interested in learning more about this process and how it could benefit your business, then please contact us here.

Could you campaign for your job?

Almost every lamp pole in our country currently hosts at least one political poster with pictures and slogans. TV and radio adverts are coming out with political parties promising us a better life together if we vote for them. In the coming weeks leading up to 7 May when we go to the polls, we will begin to see an increase in campaigning and promises that will sway those of us who have not yet made up our minds where to place our voters cross.

What is it you and your business had to secure customers in the same manner.

What would your pole posters look like?

Would you put your face on the poster?

What would your slogan or tag line be?

If you had a 3 minute radio interview would you know what to say and how to say it?

How different is your marketing campaigns to an election campaign? Can you stand by your words and promises that you make to your customers. How satisfied would your customers be once they have spend money (cast their vote) on your product offering? What would they be sharing with their friends about their experience with your business?

Take time today to think on these things and make any changes that may be required to move your business away from the fly-by-night political party campaigns we see far too often.

Change is Constant

There are not many things that remain constant in our lives these days, one that does is the need for change. With the rules of life, business and love ever changing or modulating from one phase to the next, we need to be on the constant lookout for new opportunities and gaps in the market that require our attention.

A few big changes that we have undergone at the Entrepreneur Incubator is that of our new office.  We are now based in Woodstock, the new hottest venue in Cape Town. Our offices situated in the Upper East Side Complex offers us luxury, security and a range of facilities such as coffee shops, restaurants, conference facilities and a gym and pool for those de-stress sessions.

Included in our office move was the appointment of our newest staff member: Chevon Cupido joins the team as a Strategic Assistant. Chevon will be working alongside myself in supporting our clients and helping to generate modules, tools and workshop materials.

Our offices also boast the ability to create high quality videos for use on websites, training programmes and social media. The green screen technology and wireless microphone allows us to get perfect sound based at any location you desire.

So with change, come the opportunities for us to expand our offerings and for you to join us to help push your business up a notch or two to the levels you have hoped for. If you want to get more info from us, then please contact Chevon direct on admin@ei.co.za

Where does my time go-Learn how to cope

The common complaint of business owners and Entrepreneurs seems to be TIME. Time flies by so fast, our lives a fuller than ever before and just when we think the work is done, another 100 emails IMs, tweets and posts call out for our attention, not to mention actual meetings, proposals and running a business.

Time Management for Entrepreneurs can never rely on traditional programmes and courses taught in corporate. It is just ridicules to expect any Entrepreneur to comply to a set of rules. Rather build a framework of guidelines that facilitate the management of time around yourself and find the best way to mold your time around you.

If you are a 3 am person, like me, or a late riser and midnight oil burner, then why should you ever want to be squeezed into a 9 – 5 box.

There are a number of easy to adopt tools and rules that we offer in our Time Management for Entrepreneurs course, will not only make you more productive, but less stressed and more happy.

This link will give you a free access to do the course. Please feel free to share this with your friends and colleagues. This link will be active for a limited time so get in while you can. Offer expires on 28th Feb. Go for it, Enjoy.

Making BBBEE work for your Business

Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) is an economic policy which has been established by the South African government to grow the economy by accelerating the participation of black South Africans into the economy. The proper implementation of BBBEE is expected to result in job creation, skilled labour, sustainable businesses, empowered communities and increased black participation in ownership and management.

The key drivers behind BBBEE are government’s procurement policy and the preferential procurement element. Given that the BBBEE status equals 10 – 20% of the total score for government tenders, an inferior BBBEE status may be the reason for losing a tender.  Similarly, private owned businesses are placing emphasis on purchasing from suppliers with superior BBBEE ratings.

Significantly, a business with a superior level of BBBEE compliance has a competitive advantage over competitors with inferior levels of compliance.
Broad-Based Solutions (Pty) Ltd has been formed to educate and assist businesses to empower their employees, value chain and communities through meaningful and sustainable initiatives. We believe in true empowerment and our approach to consulting is based on this principle. For this reason, we are able to assist our clients to obtain a superior BBBEE rating and gain a competitive advantage over competitors, whilst achieving true empowerment.

The founder, Rafiek Allie, is an admitted attorney with six years BBBEE advisory experience. Through his knowledge of the BBBEE Codes and related legislation, he has successfully assisted clients of all sizes and within all sectors.

Broad-Based Solutions is located within Cape Town but we are able to render services throughout South Africa using Skype as a means of communicating with our clients outside of the Western Cape. You can contact us for advice or services on 082 9215 234 or rafiek@broadbasedsolutions.co.za

Action Model – Action

So often we sit around with things to do and people to see, maybe even with lists of actions required for the day, but when the end of the day comes, we have done very little of what we planned and hoped to do.
Taking action is not as simple as just making a list: if our confidence is not at the right level and our fear or frustrations are addressed, we may just find ourselves in a state of fixed animation and not able to do anything.
In this video we begin to explore, as part of the Action Model, what triggers action. What needs to be right in order to get a response out of ourselves or other people.
Some good insight into human behaviour.

Business Plans – Are You Ready for One?

Developing a business plan for your business has become a critical part of any business success criteria. Without a plan your business will stumble along, and may very well survive but getting to a prescribed destination by a required time will always require a plan.

So what do we mean by a business plan? I was for many years very anti business plans. They seemed to take a bunch of time to write up and never seemed to serve any purpose. This was mainly due to the fact that the plans I encountered were crap and not worth the paper they were printed on.

So we embarked on a journey to discover the ‘perfect business plan’. Lots of input from banks and organisations and experts later, we now have a business plan template that is kick ass and has proved itself time and time again. Many competitions have been won and money raised using this plan template. We use it to teach, coach and mentor emerging businesses to greatness and sustainability.

How do you get hold of this template you ask? Well it could just be a few clicks away, if you are willing to take the step to change the future of your business.

Go here for more information and to check out links to the eBooks and videos that will help you gain insight into our way of planning for your business.
